5 weeks old!

I can barely believe that my little guy is 5 weeks old already! He's getting so big, already busting out of his newborn diaper wraps. He is currently going through what I like to call "baby adolescence". His hair is falling out and he's got a little baby acne on his super chubby cheeks. Even bald and pock marked, he is still the cutest baby ever!

The little guy has quite the personality too. He's mainly a pretty mellow baby, but he will definately let you know what he doesn't like. He doesn't really cry unless he's really upset, but prefers to communicate his disapproval with little yells and high pitch shreaks. When he does cry it's so pathetic, he pushes out his lower lip then lets it rip. His really sad cry sounds like ma ma mas, which really get me. Its so cute to hear, but I can't let him stay in that sad state for very long. Luckily, Mom has the magic touch and he calms right down usually as soon as I pick him up.

That's not to say that he doesn't have his fussy times. It's usually in the evening, and can last up to 4 hours in a stretch. I think the poor guy has reflux issues. He writhes around trying to get comfortable, and gives out little shreaks to let us know just how unhappy he is in his plight. He also has a tendency towards projectile vomiting during these times which inevitably ends in soaking both his and my clothing. And since I can't stand to leave him in vomit soaked clothes, the outfit changing is frequent. Of course all he wants at this time is to be held, so he wails when I have to change him. Poor guy, its so tough being an infant!

He has started mimicking faces more too. I am seeing his wide toothless smile more and more, usually after he is fed or right after he's taken a big dump and I'm changing him. It's the cutest smile ever and I can't wait to get a picture of it!

Emery's first Thanksgiving was great. Rob, Emery's godfather, came up from San Fran to meet the kid and spend some time getting to know him. We took the easy way out and bought our turkey dinner, and I'm so glad we did. It gave everyone the opportunity to relax and enjoy each other's company. Auntie Kara was suppose to come as well but couldn't make it since her sister is very close to giving birth. We missed her terribly, but totally understand. Can't wait to welcome little Abigail into the world, and hope for Jen's sake that it's soon :)!!

While Rob was here we took Emery out on his first official outing (one that didn't entail going to the doctor). We went to see the new apartment, walked around Capitol Hill and did some shopping, then went down to Pike Place Market and got some yummy bread and cheese to compliment our thanksgiving leftover dinner. Emery did great, mainly just slept in the Snugli against Daddy's chest, and I was so happy to get out of the house!

Emery also got his first taste of art while Uncle Bobby was here. We went to see the Mark Ryden exibit at the Frye Art Gallery. Again, Emery was a jewel, and slept this time against Rob's chest for the duration of our excursion. The two got time to do some serious bonding and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get the kid away from him! It's a good thing I've got the boobies that put me at the top of Emery's list or I might not have gotten him back!

That's all for now- Happy Holidays everyone!!

It's a good thing mom wasn't there too! There'd have been a fight for sure when mom kept trying to get the little guy away from Rob.
