First Sunday morning pancakes. Most of it ended up in his lap but he loved the challenge! He's doing quite well with the finger foods these days, I'd say he's got about a 40% success rate of the food actually making it to his mouth. And he's improving every day, I'm such a proud mom!Posted by Hello

So I FINALLY meet Chad! (Well, I guess we met at Triton's wedding but the alcohol induced haze from that event wiped my memory of that first encounter, so I will call this the first) Posted by Hello

Greg and happily buzzed Mommy! Posted by Hello

7 months old today!

Man, I can barely believe how fast time is flying and how quickly Emery is changing! He's not just my little baby anymore, he's a little man! Since I last wrote Emery got his first full blown cold. I felt sooo bad, he wasn't sleeping because he wasn't feeling well. He's better now thank goodness, although we're still battling a forever running nose. Poor Adam got it too, although thankfully he got over it faster than Emery and I did. We're all happy the sickies are over and life is back to normal in the Toothaker-Murri household once again.

Adam and I went to the Sasquatch music festival at the Gorge yesterday and had a blast even though it was difficult leaving the babe with Grandma Billie. Adam finally got to see the Pixies which of course ROCKED!! My own personal favorite show of the day was the Arcade Fire. They were so good! They're my new favorite band and they put on one hell of a show! So much energy! I especially loved the Napoleon Dynamite looking red head that played the accordian, bass and keyboard- but they were all pretty damn cute :)!

Adam and I caravaned with Laura and Brian and got to hang out with some friends from Boise- Joe, Elyse and Chad. It was great to hang out with a Boise crowd again :)! We also saw Greg and Craig, Shelly and April. Even with the thousands of people there, and no cell phone, I managed to see everyone I wanted. It was hotter than hell but well worth it! The only time I was in danger of having a bad time occured while Adam and I were waiting in line at the beer counter and this woman was in line right in front of us with her 6 month old son. The poor little guy was hot and tired and I wanted to yell at his mom and say "What in the hell are you thinking to bring your baby to a 12 hour music festival in 90+ degree heat with no shade?!? And shouldn't you be attending to your poor cranky son instead of standing in line for a beer?!?" Instead I was perfectly nice to her and tried to distract the poor little guy for awhile. But the whole episode was horrible! I couldn't stop thinking about how much I missed Emery. And I knew I would start leaking milk everywhere if he started to cry. By the end of it I just had to turn my back and act like they weren't there. Luckily, a couple more ice cold beers helped me to get back on track and enjoy the show again.

The next morning we bee-lined it home to see the kid. Of coarse he barely knew we were gone. But he had a great time with Grandma Billie, so everything worked out just as it should!

In other news, we're still figuring out the specifics on the whole Boise Fourth of July trip. So far we're planning on a potluck BBQ at Kara and Mike's new place on the 1st. On Saturday we're all going to Robie Creek, so all you campers be ready!! And on Monday the fourth there is going to be a get together at my Mom's place. So hopefully everyone can make at least one (if not more) of these events and meet our little monkey. I'll post more specifics when I get them. Hope to see everyone- the more the merrier:)!!

Emery's College Savings Plan

Okay so I finally gave up on finding the stupid forms to send in with contributions to Emery's college fund. So, for anyone who would like to contribute, simply call this number- 1(877)338-4646 and you can make a contribution over the phone. Emery's account number is #2031493. I think that should work anyway! If I ever get my hands on that form again I'll get it posted as well.

Emery had his 6 month check up today. He is now 28 inches long (86%) and 18 lbs 8 oz (57%). Both Adam and I can't believe he's only gained 2 pounds since his last visit, there must be something wrong with that scale!! The poor guy got another set of shots, but again took them like a champ. This time he cried until I was able to pick him up, then he spotted the nurse and gave her a dirty look and a couple of yells as if to say "YOU! You hurt me! I will no longer bless you with my beautiful smile- humf!" At least he knew where the blame should be placed! He's doing just fine now though, out for the night.

Speaking of night, I hope he sleeps through the night. He had been sooo good about it, then about a week and a half ago he started wanting the 3:30 boob again. No problem, I figured it was a phase that he'd get through and go back to the perfect-baby-sleeping-through-the-night again. But the last few nights he's woke up about every 3 hours. I'm sure it's because of his teething, he tosses and turns until he finally wakes up. But I don't do well on 2 1/2 blocks of 3 hours of sleep at night. I am totally wiped out! The house is a disaster and I'm too tired to care. Please, please Son, give your poor Mom a break and sleep well tonight...

Our little monkey

Maybe its the glass of wine I just had, maybe it's the Mommy hormones, or maybe I'm just premenstral but I just have to express just how much I love our little monkey Emery Dean. I can't stop taking pictures of him, he's just so damn cute! I hear at least 10 times each day "Kid, you're such a cutie!" (or something of the like), and I think the same thing at least 50 times more each day. I know I'm obsessed, I just don't care. Who can blame me really?

He's loving sweet potatoes these days, I'd give them a close tie to the bananas. Squash has also been a big hit, although he gets that scrunched up face at first ( I think he was expecting sweet potatoes). Adam gave him a bit of his first meat ever, salmon, and he seemed to like as well (which made Adam quite proud I must say- I guess the fact that he likes seafood makes him a real Toothaker). Today I let him gum some slices of apple and he loved it! Poor guy cried when I finally got tired of holding a soggy, slobbery apple slice to his mouth.

Emery's second tooth came in this weekend. Two teeth and counting! His cute little toothless smile is gone forever, but the tooth-fulled one that has replaced it is pretty darn cute! We finally go in for his 6 month checkup this Thursday so I'll let you know all of the stats when I get them, but I'm sure he has to weight at least 21 pounds!

In other news, I have finally gotten over the nasty bug that threated to ruin my 31st birthday as well as my first Mother's Day. I spent both feeling pretty crappy, but Adam was great and took care of me. I spent most of the time lying down on our sleeper sofa with Emery as he nursed and played- I can think of worse things to do! I am very glad that I am feeling better though, it set me back at work about a week and I'm still playing catch-up.

FYI- I have finished setting up Emery's college education fund and am working on getting the forms linked up to the blog so that anyone who wants to contribute can copy the form off the web and sent in payment anytime they would like. I seemed to have misplaced the form however, I'm sure it will turn up soon :)!

We have begun to plan our first trip back to Idaho and are so excited to show the kid off! We're going to be there over the 4th of July and plan to be there for a few days so that we hopefully can see everyone! We are especially excited that Adam's Grandma Warner is going to make a special trek out to see us while we're there! No one can refuse the power of Emery.... And yes, he's even cuter in person... Anyway, mark your calenders, we would like to see everyone if possible! We are organizing some events that hopefully will enable us to see everyone and I will let you all know the what, when, and where as soon as I can!

I really need to go, but before I do I need to relate this great story about Adam that Grannie Annie sent me after hearing about Emery's bull headed personality. She put it much better than I did, so hear it is!

Hi guys,

There was something in one of the blog entries that reminded me of the classic Adam Turns Blue story. Apparently, a baby can hold his breath when angry, will turn deep blue, pass out, and return to breathing quite naturally. If parents can ignore the behavior the child will probably never do it again but most parents respond! Thus, creating a horrific behavioral problem that can go on for years. It can be genetic so here you are:

When Adam was a little over a year old, I was learning to play bridge (in the evenings). Jeff was working evening shift. My friend's husband volunteered to baby sit, their son was about 4 months old. So he and another friend were going to hang out while we played bridge and the kids were supposed to sleep. Adam stood on the couch looking out the window as I left. When he fully understood that he was alone with Wayne and Skip, he totally lost it. He started to cry and somewhere in his crying he started holding his breath, turning blue. Wayne and Skip said they could hardly believe what was happening, no sound was coming out his mouth, he was clearly furious and then he began to turn shades of blue. They became totally fascinated and just sat transfixed as he turned deeper shades of blue. Then all of a sudden he fell over on the couch "like a big tree"; laid there a few seconds, got up and started to play. It never happened again!

So if he gets that mad, put him in the crib, go to the bathroom, lock your self in wait for it to be quiet. And you will be as lucky as the 3 of us were.

love, m/a

Drinking out of his sippy cup. We have to plug up the extra hole so it doesn't come out so fast, but he's caught on to the whole drinking thing like a little champ! Posted by Hello

6 months and first tooth!

That's right, Emery cut his first tooth today- finally! After months of drooling and chewing on anything and everything he could get his hands on, then drooling some more, he finally popped one through! The other bottom tooth will follow soon I am sure.

Other firsts for Emery in the last couple of weeks- first taste of avocado. He likes it better than the carrots but not as well as bananas. First bout of constipation, surprise surprise. A little bit of molassis has set him back on track. And of course we can't forget his first night without Mom and Dad. He had a great time with Grandma Billie and I doubt if he missed us at all. Mom and Dad definately had the harder time with separation anxiety!

Our trip to Vancouver was nice though. We got up early and walked down to the train station. Everything was going just fine until we got there and of course THERE WERE BABIES EVERYWHERE!!! I tried to ingore them and look away, but they of course all reminded me of our little guy. I thought we were saved as we got settled into our car and noticed not one kid in sight, but of course at the last minute 2 families boarded and sat right in front of us. I just put on my headphones, took in the scenery and tried to forget how much I was already missing Emery. The train was delayed about an hour due to some bridge that was stuck in the up position, but we finally made it to Vancouver without too much trouble. We checked into our hotel, the super swanky Faimont Hotel Downtown, and got settled. My breasts were hard as rocks so I pumped while Adam went out and got some yummy lunch. After pumping and grubbing we went out to walk off the huge lunch we ate. We walked down through Yaletown and decided to rent a tandem bike. That was a blast! We rode from Yaletown, through Stanley Park and back again. The whole time we scoped out all of the places that we were going to take Emery the next time we go to Vancouver. Finally we went back to the hotel and got ready for a night out.

We had a good time out in the town, we got into a bar and had little 19- 21 year olds entertain us most of the night. Surprisingly I didn't feel so much old as just damn lucky that I'm not that age anymore! So much drama! We got back to the hotel by taking a pedal cab, a first for both Adam and I. Adam thought it was very strange being on the back end of the cab for a change!

Needless to say, we drank WAY TOO MUCH and had massive hangovers the next morning. We barely got out of the hotel on time, then had 6 hours to go before the train left that evening. So we dropped off our bags at the train station and trekked off to check out some more of Vancouver. We ended up taking the Seabus to North Vancouver and checked out the touristy but still very cool market they have over there. We also ventured through Chinatown, where I found Emery's Chinese horoscope. I though it was great that he is a monkey until I saw that monkey's have alot of conflict with tigers, which is my sign. It's a good thing I don't really buy in to that stuff anyway!!

The train ride back was the hardest. By the time we got on the train I was ready to be home with my little boogerbutt. Adam was having a hard time too. And of course we were in the only car that had kids, two 4 year olds and an infant about 4 months old. They were cute and entertaining but they made me miss our little guy even more!!

We finally made it home around 11pm and I had to restrain myself from waking the babe up to say hi and see his adorable toothless smile. Instead I just went into work at little late the next day so that I could spend some time with the babe.

In retrospect it was good to get away, and a good prep for us to go to Sasquatch this year. But I think we would have had just as good of a time taking Emery, probably better. So next time, the babe is coming along.

In other news, Uncle Jeff's 36th birthday is today- HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE JEFF!! Emery popped his first tooth to commemerate the occasion! My birthday is on Saturday. We plan to play it mellow and make a nice dinner at home. I can't think of a better way to spend it than to hang out with my super kid and his super dad. Laura is going to come over too which is great because we haven't got to see each other in a long time and it will be good to catch up!!

Better get off the computer now, Adam's getting fussy :)
